The Phillips 66 Lake Charles Refinery has been operational since 1941. Maintenance and upgrades, such as coke drum replacements, on the giant refinery are challenging. USI Industrial Services specializes in these types of large-scale specialty construction projects. At the Phillips 66 Lake Charles Refinery, USI Industrial Services assisted in transporting and setting four new drums. USI performed pre-turnaround work that included adding, modifying, welding and cutting throughout the existing structure where the new drums would be installed.
During the turnaround, USI Industrial Services removed the drilling derricks from the existing structure, removed the existing four coke drums and installed the new coke drums with delta valves and approximately 12,000 linear feet of piping.
The refinery is capable of processing 249,000 barrels of crude oil a day to produce transportation fuels, including petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and other products such as asphalt. Americans in the southeastern and eastern U.S. likely use these products every day.
USI Industrial Services, an Everus company, precisely and safely executed the project, with no accidents and zero recordable injuries.
