Fontainebleau Las Vegas

Bombard Electric was the lead electrical contractor on the largest venue remodel in Las Vegas history. The 67-story Fontainebleau Las Vegas is the tallest occupiable building in Las Vegas. Every inch of its 150,000-square-foot casino, 550,000-square-foot event space and 3,644 hotel rooms and suites exudes elegance. Construction on this world-class resort began in 2007, and it was originally set to open in 2009. However, as the project was around 70 percent complete, construction was halted. The nearly finished tower loomed over the famed Las Vegas Strip for 12 years before construction resumed under new ownership.

As the project resumed, Bombard Electric was challenged to reuse and adapt as much of the existing electrical infrastructure as possible. Bombard Electric identified systems that could be used, such as the tower’s switchgear, as well as systems that needed to be replaced, such as the building management systems. This effort saved the client time and money.

With the structure largely in place, Bombard Electric quickly ramped up its team. This pace of escalation was unlike any other project Bombard Electric has completed. The company employed 500-600 team members for a sustained working schedule. This team worked safely and efficiently to complete the remodel in only two years. The building that sat empty and incomplete for a dozen years was transformed into an immaculate resort to be enjoyed by thousands of guests.

Bombard Electric showed a mastery of emerging technology on the project, especially concerning the data center. Bombard Electric helped provide telecommunications as a whole for the property. The team built out the data center in the podium with HOT Aisle Containment that included installing 80 server cabinets to support audio-visual, building automation, gaming, ICT and security networks. They built out 115 telecom rooms, installed more than 200,000 feet of fiber optic backbone cabling and installed the fiber backbone network for the cellular and first responder DAS systems to support more than 300 remote units. To install this, the team fusion-spliced more than 50,000 strands of single-mode fiber optic cabling for the fiber backbone network. This technology helps ensure connectivity throughout the massive resort.

By succeeding at a “remodel” of this immense scale, Bombard Electric affirmed its expertise and ingenuity.
