Rising high into the Las Vegas skyline, the High Roller observation wheel is a modern marvel that presented a unique power distribution challenge for Bombard Electric.
Riders step on board the 550-foot-tall High Roller observation wheel, the largest of its kind in the world, while it’s turning, and providing a constant power supply to a moving wheel called for a unique electrical solution. Bombard Electric installed a 480-volt bus rail that runs around the circumference of the wheel’s rim, maintaining constant contact with the 28 rider capsules to provide power. The power supplied to each capsule runs video screens, security cameras, fire alarms and heating and cooling systems to keep riders safe and comfortable. The electrical system also powers 2,000 color-changing LED lights that put on a show every night.
The High Roller anchors the LINQ, a bustling new entertainment district along the Las Vegas Strip. The 300,000-square-foot district features restaurants, retail stores, a hotel/casino, a music venue and a bowling alley.
Several Everus companies have provided construction services at the LINQ. Desert Fire Protection designed and installed fire protection systems for several tenants, including Brooklyn Bowl, Tilted Kilt and Fame Street. Lone Mountain Excavation & Utilities provided grading, utility trenching, build-out and excavation services for the LINQ project core and shell, as well as various tenant improvements. Bombard Mechanical installed HVAC, plumbing and refrigeration systems for the LINQ and many other tenants, including Yard House, Koto, Flour & Barley and 12 AM Run.
